A magnificent George III Table Clock. The mahogany bell top case surmounted with brass handle and four acorn finials has cantered corners displaying Caryatid Sculptered female figures and flowers. Base with Flemish feet on all corners. The glass apertures to sides and back door showing finely engraved back plate. Eight day duration Fusee movement with verge escapement striking the hours on a bell. The single piece silvered brass arch dial with steel hands has strike/silent in the arch, calendar aperture and recessed signature of the makers: Chater & Livermore. London. Chater & Livermore are recorded working in partnership from 1787 until 1808. The verge escapement suggests this clock was constructed early in their partnership. Circa 1790. Sold |
