Irish longcase clock, circa 1860

 

A small Irish longcase clock of attractive proportions. The fine quality mahogany case with dome top hood and wood bezel dial surround. The trunk with selected veneers continuing through base, surround an inset panel to trunk door. The eight day duration movement striking the hours on a bell.

The round painted dial with seconds ring is i nscribed with maker's name:

James Mayfield. Dublin.

Recorded working at 30 Essex Kay in 1858, later at 10 Sackville Street Dublin between 1861 and 1868.*
