Irish, George II longcase clock. Figured mahogany veneered case of excellent color has an architectural style hood with center wood finial and vertical reede panel below. The trunk with full quarter reeded columns to sides. Crossbanding to edge of trunk door separated with stringing. A matching box panel sits above the base. Eight-day-duration movement, striking hours on a bell. The square silvered brass dial with seconds ring has the maker's name engraved on a half-moon plaque above a recessed date aperture:

John Narney. Dublin.

A very interesting clock-maker recorded working in Dublin as a "Quarter-brother" (a time-expired apprentice) in 1744. He emigrated to america to work at the south end of the bay, Charlestown, where he is recorded also as a watchmaker in 1753.
