A very early and rare "William and Mary" Irish longcase clock. The richly veneered case of excellent color has an architectural style hood with original center brass ball finial and carved blind wood fretwork below. The trunk has full quarter reeded, capped columns to sides and crossbanding and stringing to trunk door. A matching box panel sits above the base. Eight-day-duration movement, striking hours on a bell. The square, silvered brass dial has recessed seconds ring and recessed date aperture below dial, engraved with marker's name:

John Sale is recorded as being baptised on 22 Dec 1695 and working in 1700. He died in 1739.
