A West Country longcase clock. The attractive mahogany veneered case with inlaid stringing has matching full reeded brass capped columns to both trunk and hood. The hood, with cresting, is surmounted with three wood finials and has a "scalloped" hood door typical of clocks from the West Country. Eight-day-duration movement, striking hours on a bell. The painted arch dial, with seconds and date aperture and restoration to numerals, has a well-executed marine scene in arch and deer and windmills depicted in all four corners. Maker unknown.
